Hi there, my name is Diego Noreña. I am a photographer and videographer currently living on the unceded territory of the Áakʼw Kwáan on Lingít Aaní, otherwise known as Juneau, Alaska. Through my lens, I tell stories about nature, science, and our changing environment, with the hope of deepening our connection to the land and to each other.

My Story

Having grown up in St. Joseph, Michigan, spending time in nature was always part of my life. However, my true passion for the wilderness began during long canoe trips through the remote rivers of northern Ontario and Quebec. Those summers left me in awe, and with a deep curiosity about how we interact with the natural world. To explore that curiosity, I became committed to exploring, understanding, and helping protect our changing planet.

I recently graduated from the University of Alaska Southeast with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Resources. Since moving to Alaska in 2024, I've focused on using both science and visual storytelling to build connections between people and place.

I currently work for the Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center, where I collaborate on projects that communicate applicable climate change research to diverse audiences, ranging from legislators and Congress to Alaska residents. I also work part-time as a photographer and videographer with Cedar Group Marketing and Media, helping tell stories for organizations and communities across Southeast Alaska.

Through photography, video, and writing, I aim to create work that is grounded in place, informed by science, and driven by a deep respect for the Land and its people.
